Heat Lightning Speed Shop – @Hertlife GS300 Build

The team at Heat Lightning Speed Shop had the opportunity to partner with one of the most recognizable names in the automotive community—@hertlife—to bring his Lexus GS300 project to life. What began as a "can you look this over before a event" turned into a fully refreshed, performance-ready, drift-oriented street machine built the right way from the ground up.

This build showcases the level of detail, fabrication, and mechanical precision we put into every HL Speed Shop project. From the engine build to all of the custom fabrication, our goal was to create something worthy of both Hert behind the wheel and the community that would follow the build online.

Complete Engine Bay Overhaul

  • Full tear-down and inspection of the old NA-T 2JZ-GE

  • Fresh Dart 3.2L 2JZ-GTE bottom end engine build utilizing a BC Stroker kit with Wiseco pistons

  • Fully refreshed GE cylinder head built with Kelford components 

  • New OEM-spec gaskets and seals throughout

  • Garrett Turbo G35-1050

  • Artec Twinscroll turbo manifold 

  • Tuned on a Haltech elite 2500 

  • Full fluid service and cooling system overhaul

  • Detailed engine bay cleanup and reorganization for reliability and ease of service

    Custom Fabrication Work

    • HL-spec stainless 4 inch downpipe, custom-built for a clean fit and max durability

    • New Titanium 4" Exhaust 

    • Polished aluminum intercooler piping 

    Drivetrain & Supporting Mods

    • Maintenance and reliability upgrades to support over 1,000HP

    • CD00A Transmission with a triple disc clutch 

    • Heat Lightning Speed Shop's signature clutch pedal conversion kit with pedal stop and OEM pedal pad
    • Heat Lightning Speed Shop SC handbrake conversion 

     

Full Prep for Content + Long-Term Reliability

  • The car was brought to a dependable running and driving condition ready for daily driven use and track abuse

  • Almost every step documented for Hert’s audience and ours

Working with Hert on this GS300 was an absolute blast and a major milestone for Heat Lightning Speed Shop. This project represents everything we stand for: clean work, proper craftsmanship, and a passion for building cars that are meant to be driven hard.
